Our Story: Pave the Way, Inc

Pave the Way, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities by supporting children and connecting families. Through fundraising and active community engagement, the organization powers its core initiatives: Centers for Exceptional Learners, which offers inclusive preschools with integrated support services; Positive Impact Performing Arts, which provides small-group arts programs designed for all learners; and PW Athletics, which delivers personalized athletic training for youth of all abilities. Together, these programs reflect our mission to pave the way for every child to grow, thrive, and succeed.

Pave the Way: Center for Exceptional Learners

The vision for Pave the Way: Center for Exceptional Learners began in 2009 with a simple dream: to open childcare centers that made a difference. Over the years, life took the founding family on an unexpected journey—growing their family, living in multiple states, and spending time abroad. In 2016, they welcomed their fourth child into the world. Just two weeks after her birth, their newborn daughter began experiencing seizures. She was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where doctors discovered a small brain bleed. During a terrifying 72 hours, the family began to wonder: What if our daughter needs developmental support in the years ahead?

Thankfully, she made a full recovery and has grown into a healthy, thriving 9-year-old. But that experience changed everything.
During her early years, the family began researching childcare centers nationwide, focusing on whether they allowed support services like occupational therapy or speech pathology during the day. Shockingly, fewer than 20% did. This realization became the foundation for Pave the Way: Center for Exceptional Learners, a preschool where all children, regardless of background, have access not only to high-quality early education and fun but also to the support services they may need to reach their full potential. A place where learning is inclusive, parents are partners, and every child is prepared for a smooth transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Positive Impact: Empowering Through the Arts

The founding family has always been passionate about the arts. That passion gave birth to Positive Impact—an initiative that provides small-group performing and visual arts classes for children who may not thrive in large or overstimulating environments.
At Pave the Way, we believe the arts are for everyone. They foster creativity, support emotional well-being, and aid in physical and cognitive development. Positive Impact ensures that every child has the opportunity to express themselves, grow, and shine—regardless of ability or background.

PW Athletics: Building Stronger, More Confident Athletes

PW Athletics was created with a clear purpose: to support and develop young athletes through personalized, one-on-one training. We recognize that not every child thrives in large group settings; some need focused, individualized attention to build skills, confidence, and a genuine love for athletics. Supporting children who participate in school or club athletics goes beyond the courts and fields. PW Athletics wants to help young athletes grow, whether they’re beginners or aspiring to reach the next level.

In addition to individual physical training, PW Athletics wants to build an inclusive athletic community for children who may be delayed in meeting their developmental milestones, who may have financial needs to assist with athletic wear and athletic fees, or who may need academic support. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, discipline, and empowerment that sports can bring, regardless of their starting point.

At PW Athletics, we champion every child’s potential on and off the field.
